Conveyancing work is considered legal work, which includes tasks that, if performed for a fee or reward by someone who is not an Australian legal practitioner, would be an offence under Part 2.1 of the Legal Profession Uniform Law (NSW).

In NSW, NSW Fair Trading regulates that only a Licensed Conveyancer or Solicitor can undertake conveyancing work. While you are allowed to handle your own conveyancing, you must fully understand the legal requirements, as you will be legally responsible for any errors. Seeking guidance from friends in the legal field may help, but you assume all associated risks.

Ensure that your conveyancer is licensed by NSW Fair Trading and is a member of the Australian Institute of Conveyancers – NSW Division Limited.
